Eternal and Finite
_I: Today we begin with the month dedicated to the Libra Constellation. This constellation refers to Balance, but it is also usually recognized with the attributes of communication, speech, sharing, due to being an Air sign, and in turn has a connotation of the search for Beauty, of Harmony in the World. The sense of Justice, but also that of Doubt. If something comes to mind when I think about Libra in addition to Communication and Beauty, it is that inability to decide between one thing or another, the constant doubt about which is the best result, the best choice.
_AM: Libra is actually a unit of mass, a way of understanding the amount of weight of an object. For this reason, in Latin, balance is called “Libra”. During Greek and Roman history the pound symbol was not only useful in commerce and science, but also a symbol of justice that maintains balance between parties. Justice, beyond punishing or eliminating what is considered negative, tries to find its place, and if one of the parts has greater weight than the other, it means that it must be regulated to maintain harmony. In art, the concept of the pound was the measure of proportions. In both a painting and a sculpture, the proportion and distribution of material, color, and weight were fundamental to maintain what in Greek they called “aisthetikós,” that is, “aesthetics,” which defines the sensitivity of finding the harmony and beauty in the proportion of things.
_I: So the scales of justice are not there to separate good from bad, or judge them, but rather exist to find harmony between the parts... The Beauty of what both can achieve.
_AM: One of the inevitable forces of the Universe is Duality. The positive and the negative, the internal and the external, have generated millions of options for systems and creations based on the multiplication of these two concepts. Both are needed to generate, since one without the other has no purpose, they are inherent in each other. The central force that controls the harmony between both, so that instead of destroying they can create, is the Scale. This is how life, beauty, existence itself, communication at all levels of being arise, from which manifestation arises.
_I: And why is Doubt so key this month?
_AM: Because before knowing how to find the right balance, you must have full knowledge of the two concepts to harmonize, and because the nature of Libra is to always find the middle point, it is very difficult to have to decide which of them. both start first. The negative aspect of Libra is nothing more than the result of its positive attribute.
_I: Then we could say that Libra equals Art.
_AM: Art has that inherent ability to find balance, to create beauty where it cannot be seen, and yet, it is one of the most chaotic and unbalanced human factors that exist.
_I: Why?
_AM: Because to create you need to destroy something. The Universe is chaotic within its cosmic order, despite the redundancy. Chaos is what allows the incessant mobility of dual forces, so that they separate, generate energy, move in an eternal back and forth, generating millions of finite and instantaneous options that give meaning to creation. The image is that of a pendulum that eternally moves creating beautiful mandalas throughout the Universe in a movement that in appearance seems erratic, and yet is eternally harmonious. But what allows this eternal movement is the ability to find the limits in its expansion so that in an instant, a second, it resumes the path of return. Going and returning, outside and inside, are part of an infinite dance composed of finite moments.
_I: Every work of art, every attitude of finding beauty in things, lies in being able to visualize the beauty of the eternal universe in an instant, in a “here and now.”
_AM: Let's imagine it. The Mind of the Universe is infinite, it is so immense that it is unimaginable. Not because it is large in size, but because its functioning is eternal, where space and time are the same, they curve and coil around themselves, like DNA chains, multiplying eternally in an incessant mitosis that expands the physical body for time. and space, giving it the ability to reproduce in other bodies. The greatness of the Universe is the eternal ability to manifest itself in all forms without ever stopping. And yet, each of its forms, its cells, its expressions, manifest for an instant, which vary, since an instant in Eternity can be either a microsecond or 1 billion years. It simply refers to the manifestation of one of its aspects, like that pendulum that, when moving in one direction, creates a force that manifests itself in a limited movement, graphed at the moment in which it loses force and must retreat.
_I: Then I am a minimal limited expression of an eternal Universe that is also me, since the pendulum that moves eternally and the limited instant in which it is retained at each end are the same, they are not separate things.
_AM: There is the scale, the Libra, the balance of things. When you understand that duality is nothing more than the same being moving and expressing two aspects or perspectives, you will be able to understand all the other forces of duality, of doubt, of separation.
_I: I am the Eternal Universe living a limiting moment in its Harmonious expression.
_AM: Eternal comes from the Latin word “aeviternus”, which means “indefinite time”. Finite also comes from the Latin “finitus”, which means “finished”, that is, a limited time. The two are two sides of the same coin. Finite and Infinite, finished and terminated, imply that there is a border through which one cannot continue advancing, where free expression is delimited, and the opposite force or reaction to movement begins. Therefore, physical and limited bodies are subjugated to the forces of life, where there is a feeling of time pressure. Your lives are that moment of the pendulum in which it stops to begin the path back to the origin. These two aspects have enormous weight, since the speed or force exerted in this return will determine the manifestation of the next point of expression at the opposite end. This is how one is a being limited by the structures of the past, and yet has the ability to transform in the present to drive a new future.
_I: Although it is not 0, but a reaction of my present...
_AM: Because everything is interwoven. Everything is a reaction of something else: Cause and Effect, one of the fundamental laws of the pendulum balance. You humans have separated the concepts of the eternal and the finite as if they were parallel realities, without seeing that the truth is that both are the same movement at different moments. There is Balance, there is Harmony, in the eternal dance of the millions of finite aspects that make you up. When you understand this with every part of your being, you will stop feeling limited by the cosmos, and you will begin to dance with it. You will stop seeking to be something else and focus on simply Being. You will see the Evolution of your mind, soul and body as a continuum in the journey of existence. And you will see each of your ideas, emotions and forms as the beauty that you have been able to create on that journey. An artist always improves with each work. The Universe began this swing with only two forces: internal and external, which in turn multiplied into two others like mirrors: positive and negative. The four formed a harmonic structure called Tetrahedron, which created an atom, and by penduluming at one end it generated a molecule, and by penduluming again it created a merkaba, a macromolecule, and so on it manifested Life and the wonders that you see today. It all started with a dot and a line.
_I: So, recognizing that I am a finite aspect of an eternal movement, will help me understand that everything I call doubt between one thing or another, the polarities and dualities, are nothing more than the extremes of this movement, and that without No matter which one I choose first, I will inevitably be creating the other, not moving away from it.
_AM: That's right. Today's task is to allow yourself to draw what this infinity composed of finite moments represents for you. By manifesting it, you will be giving harmony to your being, since every idea descended into artistic emotion and embodied in matter manifests in cellular memory, something that will be remembered forever. Draw your eternity and your limitation. Bring beauty to the Consciousness of your Infinite Being.
